Dancer of the Month

Our Dancer of the Month for March is in her 4th season of dance. Maddie Haan is making significant strides this year in all her many disciplines of dance.  In ballet she is working on fine tuning her technique. From plies to degages, she is placing emphasis on fundamentals—especially working through her feet and utilizing resistance.  She is mastering the 8 body positions and pulling up in pirouettes and piques.  Jumping is one of her favorite activities, and her ability to bounce like a ball (ballone) improves with each class.  Maddie’s jump vocabulary is expanding as well—sautes, glissades, assembles, pas de chats, and sissones are her claims to fame.  In Tap she is quickly picking up the technique she worked on this summer.  She has added step heel turns and flap heel turns to her repertoire.  She is new to tap this year, but she is strong and hard working.  Miss Haan is studying a little Luigi/Fosse/Giordano mix in Jazz.  She is really shining in her isolations and grand battements. Fun combos allow her to really strut her stuff in this technique.  She has been focused on strength training with balls and Graham technique in modern.  Breathing through movement and using her core to maintain balance provides a graceful approach to movement whether it is smooth or sharp, and she is working this beautifully. Stefanie is very proud of Maddie’s extraordinary accomplishments.
