Our Dancer of the Month for May is in her second season of dance and excelling on so many levels. Maecee Burris has studied ballet for two years and added jazz and Junior Company to her list of accomplishments. Maecee focuses so keenly on her technique at the barre in ballet. She multi tasks beautifully by applying the technical corrections while performing each combination for her audience/teacher. Miss Burris is a natural performer for sure. Her claim to fame in ballet–her exquisite turns. From pirouette preps to spot on balanced turns to…yes, double pique turns across the floor, she blends technical execution with a graceful presence. Her confidence in her ability to retain lengthy combinations and choreography just adds to her skills. In jazz she is aware of those around her and is friendly while looking up to some of her peers. Her focus on technique and choreography is just as prevalent in jazz as it is in ballet. She quickly retains the work given and has made big strides with floor work and jazz isolations. She carries her newly learned jazz technique into one of the Junior Company pieces this year. Her roles in all three of the Junior Company works are dynamic and so fun. And if that is not enough, Maecee is a sweet and powerful young lady!
