Our Dancer of the Month for January is in her third season of dance. Emma is working diligently in each of her disciplines.
In ballet she is balancing perfecting her technique while moving through her space with the most beautiful port de bras. She continues to improve her flexibility both in her legs and back by focusing on pushing just a little more each time she stretches. Throughout her ballet classes she maintains body placement while advancing in petite allegro and pirouettes. So much is progressing in class, but she does not lose sight of all the mechanics she knows and corrections she has learned.
In tap she is improving with clean sounds projected from her shoes with proper technique as well. When combos speed up she pays close attention and is always thinking ahead for the next step.
In modern her contractions are improving as she performs them just like taking a breath. She has tremendous elevation in modern degages and jetes across the floor.
Emma auditioned and became a junior dance company member this year. She is excelling in all the variety of styles she will be performing. What a performer she is too!
Thank you, Emma, for working so hard and paying such close attention in all your classes.
Our Dancer of the Month for December is in her fifth season of dance. Hard-working Hannah is enrolled in ballet, tap, and modern this year. She is balancing strong work ethics in technique while polishing her quality of movement.
By applying the artistic elements all the disciplines require, she is making great strides in her overall dance studies. In ballet class she is paying close attention to port de bras and using it to enhance movement. Also, her petite allegro is quicker and tighter because of her focusing in on closing the positions in fifth and utilizing ballon.
In tap she is gaining speed while fine-tuning her skills. This applies a the barre and center floor. Modern is a new technique for Hannah this season, and a little bird told Ms. C that it is her favorite discipline. She is incorporating the natural falls, swings, and contractions that every modern technique beholds. However, she is also working to perfect the inhales and exhales of this style of dance. Her traveling contractions and triplets are strong and performed with a little extra precision.
Thank you, Hannah, for working so very hard in each and every class. Your teachers are very proud of your accomplishments. You should be too!
Our Dancer of the Month for November joined our dancing family last year mid-season. Jordan comes from a background in theater, which makes her a tremendous performer.
Though she had very little formal training in dance, she did an amazing job. She started her studies in the adult combo class last season, where she excelled immediately. Quickly, she added ballet to her list of disciplines, and because she is a very hard worker, became more and more polished as the season progressed. She performed with the adult combo class on stage and played the role of King Kandy’s soldier in last year’s concert.
Well, Miss Jordan walked into this season deciding to take Ballet II to brush up on and clean her skills for Ballet III—therefore enrolled in both. It worked perfectly and Jordan started her pointe studies in September. Simply put, Jordan loves everything about dance—the discipline, hard work, and performing.
This season she is taking three ballet classes, jazz, and tap.
Jordan is a pure delight to have in class. Thank you for your work ethics, beautiful artistry, tremendously sweet personality, and giving heart!
Our Dancer of the Month for October is in her third season of dance at the studio.
Ruby is a focused and hard–working dancer. She approaches each and every ballet class with a positive attitude, smile on her face, and a thirst to learn.
Some of her strengths in ballet that she began working on last season and is continuing this season are beautiful port de bras with attention on quality of movement. She strives to work all the graceful aspects of her upper body even when her feet are moving quickly. This effort and achievement is hard to master and is a skill she will carry with her throughout her ballet studies. Also, she can answer each and every vocabulary question without hesitation. As if that is not enough, she can also demonstrate each movement as well.
Ruby pays close attention to every compliment and correction she receives in class. She is improving so much upon returning just a month ago. Not only does she excel at all of this, but she is a very good role model to her fellow students. Ruby is always ready to help a dancer if she has a question or struggle.
Thank you, Ruby for your commitment and achievement in ballet every single week!
